“I believe that everyone has the ability to change the things that are keeping them from becoming who they really want to be. It takes tremendous courage to reach out and ask for help.”

Allison Ober

Resident in Counseling, M.Ed.

Office: Sterling

I’ve helped clients work through personal traumas, body image and self-esteem issues, relationship conflicts, depression and anxiety, and life transitions.

I use an integrative therapeutic approach with an emphasis on psychodynamic, person-centered, and cognitive behavioral theories. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space infused with empathy, respect, and humor, whenever possible.
I particularly love working with teens, young adults, and females of all ages. I also enjoy working with the LGBTQ+ community, including individuals and families who are navigating the gender affirmation journey. As a former special education teacher, I have a unique understanding of how the school system can impact families who are facing mental health challenges.
I graduated from George Mason University with a Master of Education in Community Agency Counseling. I also hold a Master’s in Teaching Special Education from the Virginia Commonwealth University, and a BA in English from Virginia Commonwealth University.
