“One moment can change a day, one day can change a life, and one life can change the world.” Buddha
Change is difficult yet inevitable. How we go about it is critical to our well-being as we strive to implement the change we want. And having the tools to succeed will improve the journey, if not the outcome. That’s what the Start Here, Start Now personal well-being for change cohort is all about.
Psychological well-being requires the development, cultivation, and integration of positive relationships, personal mastery, autonomy, acceptance, a feeling of purpose and meaning in life, and mindful living, all in support of personal, sustainable development and growth. Well-being is attained by achieving a state of balance incorporating aspects of being challenged, supported, and rewarded on various levels from ordinary as well as extraordinary life events. Join our next cohort to master the skills to promote and sustain positive change.
The Well-Being for Personal Growth cohort is a 12 week program that involves learning and applying positive psychology skills in a small, highly motivated group to address personal change for: general motivation; health; exercise; career change or growth; weight loss; relationships; parenting; communication; aging; retirement, and more.
Each cohort is made up of 10 to 12 individuals seeking to develop positive well-being skills to support change and growth. The group meets once a week for 1.5 to 2 hours to learn and process new skills. Homework and other assignments are given to reinforce the concept covered from each week. The group is not a therapy group, per se, but rather a skill building group led by Dr. Eric Zelsdorf and Executive Coach Barbara Clark, from the George Mason University Leadership Coaching staff.
Topics and skills to be covered over the semester include:
