Stress Management for Optimal Health and Performance

Sessions: 4 weeks, 90 minutes;

Saturday from 3pm to 4:30pm

Research shows that unmanaged stress negatively affects emotional wellbeing and physical health, resulting in anxiety, depression, insomnia, high blood pressure, heart disease, gastrointestinal problems, obesity, and diabetes. Stress also wreaks havoc in relationships and typically leaves us feeling overwhelmed, unfulfilled, and unhappy. The Northern Virginia culture seems to require never ending and often overwhelming responsibilities, too many commitments, and not enough time to get it all done.

Research also shows that stress reduction and management can improve overall health and wellbeing, optimize performance, and even lengthen your lifespan. Loudoun Psychological Services offers a 4-session, integrative and practical stress management program to show you how to effectively manage your stress, improve your health, and optimize your relationships and performance in life.

In this program you will learn:

  • Learn the neurobiology of stress and anxiety: the good, bad, and the ugly
  • Discover the symptoms of chronic stress
  • Understand why stress management is essential - not optional
  • Develop a deeper understanding about lifestyle factors that contribute to effective stress management to improve health and wellbeing
  • Practice effective interventions on day one for reducing stress and improving self-care for optimal performance and better health
  • Explore a variety of evidence-based options for stress management, including Biofeedback, Mindfulness, Imagery, Compassion/Gratitude, Reframing, Humor, and Social Connection, with the aim to assist each group participant in designing a personalized stress management program that will address their unique needs and preferences

Who can benefit from this program? Anyone 18 and older who would like to reduce the negative effects of stress, improve health, and optimize their performance.
